Places to eat at Sao Miguel

When you want the selection of a big super market, this is the closest one, which is in the next city of Ribeira Grande. It’s a big chain, there are several of them across Sao Miguel. They have a big parking lot in front, with an over follow parking on the side. I do a lot of shopping here.

This is the largest of the food markets in Ribeirinha. It has most of the basics that you need. It’s about a 6 minute way from the Golden Mermaid Villa.

This is the best Farmer’s Market on Sao Miguel, much better than the one in PDL. It is only open two days a week, Thursday and Saturday from 9 am to noon. They have many vendors of locally gown fruits and vegetables, as well as some breads, eggs, and cheese. On Thursday they have livestock for sale as well. I go here once a week, you can tag along if you wish.

Here is my favorite Chinese/Japanese Restaurant. Is not a buffet, but an all you can eat place, where you order off a menu. The sushi is good, I really like their Hong Kong Style Duck. It’s fairly new, only opened up about 6 months ago, it a very large restaurant behind the Hotel Talisman. It’s €14.90 for lunch and €18.90 for dinner and weekends.

They say this is the best steak house on the island. I don’t eat beef, but my good friend who loves meat, tells me it is. I have had their fish and it’s ok. It’s across the street from the Coliseu Micaelense, so it you are going to a concert there, this would be a great place to eat before hand.

Many say this is the very best Steak House on the island. It took some time to get a reservation here. I don’t eat meat, but I can say the Duck here is amazing. They are closed on Wednesdays. They service large t-bones on a wood platter to be shared by many people. They also own the fish place Bar Caloura.
